How to Declutter your Wardrobe – Step by Step

How to Declutter your Wardrobe

Are you dreaming of a wardrobe that's neat and organised, where you can find exactly what you are looking for without having to pull everything out and where everything has a place? Well, I am here to help you sort it out - making putting things away easier, finding it easier to put an outfit together and saving you lots of time! It's easy - here's how:

Step One:

Preparation is important to enjoy wardrobe detoxing, so get some comfy clothes on, get some snacks ready and play your favourite playlist. I am loving Guilty Pleasures on Shopify because it has all the hits!

Step Two:

Get everything out! EVERYTHING! As messy as it will be, this is so important as it gives you a fresh start and means you’ll see exactly what you have – and believe me you’ll find things that you totally forgot about. Whilst it’s empty give the wardrobe a clean to make sure it's lovely and fresh for when everything goes back in!
 With every item ask yourself:

  •             Do I love it?
  • Do I wear it?
  • Is it your style?
  • Is it comfortable?
  • Has it got stains, marks or changed colour?
  • Does it fit?
  • If in doubt try it on!

Step Three:

Keep, Sell, Charity and Bin! Put all your clothes into one of these 4 sections. Make sure you are ruthless and only keep the items you absolutely love – the more ruthless you are the longer time you can leave before doing this again!

Step Four:

Time for everything to go back in! Now how you do this is dependent on the space you have available, the lifestyle you lead and the items you want to see the most. Mandy positions her essential Lace Hem Vests and comfortable DECK Capri trousers in prime access. Another tip is to colour coordinate to make it as easy as possible to find what you are looking for and put an outfit together quickly and easily. Also, make sure you use the appropriate hangers for the clothes to ensure items to don't fall off when they are being put away!

Top Tips for Drawers:

Clothes Folder – One great tip is to get yourself a clothes folder from places such as Amazon and eBay - they are really reasonably priced and create the perfect fold for your clothes.
Drawer Dividers – These are the perfect way to make the most of drawer space as they allow you to keep organised as each divider section can be used for something such as underwear, sock, vests or even for accessories! (Image Below from Ikea)
And Finally...Keep it Clean – the best thing about an organised wardrobe is that you don’t want to mess it all up again so keep it clean!
